Twin Hospitality Group CEO Resigns

Chief Legal Officer Clay Mingus also left to pursue another opportunity.

On March 17, Twin Peaks opened in Algonquin, Ill., marking its fourth location in Illinois and 116th lodge across the U.S. and Mexico.

A leadership transition is underway at Twin Hospitality Group, parent of Twin Peaks Restaurant, as two have resigned.

On March 31, the company announced the departures of CEO Joe Hummel and Chief Legal Officer Clay Mingus; the two are pursuing other opportunities, according to the press release. Stepping into the respective roles for the time being are Ken Kuick, chief financial officer, as interim CEO and Allen Sussman, general counsel of FAT Brands, as interim chief legal officer.

“We would like to thank Joe and Clay for all that they have done for Twin Peaks over the last 14 years,” Kuick says in the release. “Starting on the franchisee side of Twin Peaks together and then taking on leadership roles at Twin Peaks and now Twin Hospitality Group, they helped pave the way for the IPO.

“We will carry the torch forward, having already opened two new lodges in 2025 and targeting approximately seven to nine additional units this year, while building on our robust over 100-unit development pipeline,” he adds.
