NRA Plans ADA Webinar, Launches California ServSafe Site

We’ve got two items of interest to report from the National Restaurant Association, including an alert to its members about proposed changes in the Americans with Disabilities Act. The Justice Department has proposed revisions that would affect the restaurant industry and places of public accommodation. The Association will host a members-only webinar on applying the proposed changes, including mobility devices, service animals, requirements for accessible-dining locations, and employee-only circulation paths. The webinar is Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. EST. Member number is required to register.

In other regulatory news, the NRA has created a California version of ServSafe Starters to meet the state’s new Food Handler Card law. The law, enacted Sept. 25, requires prospective restaurant employees to show proof of food-safety training beginning July 1, 2011.
